Serendipity, Luck or Opportunity?

We are only 5 days into January but so far I’ve had 2 opportunities come my way. Some people refer to this as serendipity and some refer to it as luck. I like to think of it as opportunity. I’ve always believed that if you want something bad enough you can make it happen. Yes, it involves hard work and some luck, but you have to keep your eyes open for the opportunities or they will pass you by.

On January 1, 2016 I was presented with an opportunity to do something I’ve been thinking about for over a year but had no idea how to make it happen. It is writing related and I think it would certainly help move my career forward. I’m not going to announce what it is just yet, but I will say I am working on a new project. Had I not been paying attention over the holidays this opportunity may have slipped passed me.

On January 3, 2016 I attended our monthly writers meeting. The learning session for this month was on goal setting. Last week I blogged about the great plan I had in place for 2016.

The facilitator took a different approach than I’ve seen before. A little light bulb went off for me during the session. I came home and adjusted my business plan. It is still ambitious but it is written from a different mindset.

I’m hoping the year continues to present me with more of these serendipitous, lucky, opportunistic events. Maybe I have been presented these things all along but this is the year my eyes will be wide open and I will see them.

I still require a lot of luck with the new project in order to get to the prize so keep your fingers crossed for me.
